The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, SC Sardoal's Amável Vilaverde nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joel Antunes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 7 minutes into the match, SC Sardoal's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Fontes came free, but Juliano Quirino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cláudio Simões hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Tomé Boaventura kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Silvestre Pinhal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joel Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leandro Henriques in the 26th minute of play. If Manuel Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juliano Quirino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eusébio Barbosa in the 32nd minute. In the 34th minute Leandro Henriques shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 37 minutes into the match, SC Sardoal's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Fontes came free, but Juliano Quirino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Manuel Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juliano Quirino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manuel Fontes's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. After 44 minutes, Humberto Silveira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Sardoal and the SC Sucarreira players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 43rd minute, one of SC Sardoal:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SC Sardoal.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eusébio Barbosa in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juliano Quirino prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 64 minutes into the game, Simão Monteiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Sucarreira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Sardoal the free kick. The supporters of SC Sardoal booed when SC Sucarreira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simão Monteiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Silvestre Pinhal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 70th minute Manuel Fontes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juliano Quirino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juliano Quirino made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. In the 92nd minute, Hélder Lencastre hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manuel Fontes in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juliano Quirino prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Juliano Quirino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eusébio Barbosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute.
