In the 8th minute Domingos Campos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sérgio Morais saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 9th minute, António Paredes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Afonso Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 11 minutes into the game, António Paredes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Marecos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Codecaes the free kick. Sérgio Morais made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Domingos Campos in the 14th minute of play. Armindo Soares charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Armindo Soares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Armindo Soares kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. José Monteiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Delfim Ferro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Afonso Costa got free with Sérgio Morais in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Afonso Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 31st minute Xavier Reis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Delfim Ferro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xavier Reis in the 35th minute of play forced SC Codecaes's goalkeeper Delfim Ferro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Xavier Reis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Delfim Ferro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Álvaro Cardoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Xavier Reis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Delfim Ferro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Marecos FC's Xavier Reis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Delfim Ferro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

After having played for 53 minutes, Xavier Reis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marecos FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xavier Reis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that José Monteiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Delfim Ferro was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. In the 56th minute, Domingos Campos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sérgio Morais was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Sérgio Morais made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Domingos Campos in the 62nd minute of play. Afonso Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The attack was good, but when Afonso Costa in the 68th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Álvaro Cardoso kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Afonso Costa took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sérgio Morais. Sérgio Morais dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Marecos FC's goalkeeper Sérgio Morais, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos Queirós during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Marecos FC's Carlos Queirós got a free kick in the 96th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SC Codecaes fans cheered their team off the field, for while Marecos FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
