SC Maljoga's supporters rose to their feet, but Abel Porto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vasco Antunes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 17 played minutes SC Formigueiro got a freekick which was hit by Rui Figueiredo. After having played for 21 minutes, Abel Porto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Maljoga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abel Porto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pedro Trindade struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Vasco Antunes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Maljoga. Abel Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vasco Antunes having to interfere. José Borges showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Henriques in the 31st minute of the match. If Pedro Trindade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 39th minute Abel Porto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vasco Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedro Trindade's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vasco Antunes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Duarte Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abel Porto in the 44th minute of play forced SC Formigueiro's goalkeeper Vasco Antunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If António Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alfredo Henriques was the one to do the kick off. In the 62nd minute, Pedro Trindade ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vasco Antunes was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Pedro Trindade could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Vasco Antunes made a huge save. In the 72nd minute SC Maljoga were awarded a corner. Albertino Pacheco went to the cornerflag to take it. Albertino Pacheco made a great header on SC Maljoga's corner, it was just that SC Formigueiro's Vasco Antunes managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Maljoga's goalkeeper José Borges, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Raul Azevedo fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Maljoga's protests and gave Raul Azevedo a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to SC Maljoga getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Raul Azevedo hit a great ball. If Abel Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 95 minutes into the match, António Correia notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of SC Maljoga's José Borges. José Borges was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
