Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 8 minutes, António Fernandes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Gamenhos and the Mendo Futebol Academia players grew even worse after the yellow card. António Fernandes hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in SC Gamenhos's zone, Júlio Fraga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fábio Pedroso came out of the goal and Júlio Fraga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. António Fernandes kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Domingos Ferreira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of Mendo Futebol Academia:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of SC Gamenhos:s goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júlio Fraga in the 23rd minute of play forced SC Gamenhos's goalkeeper Fábio Pedroso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. António Amaro's late challenge caught a Mendo Futebol Academia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. António Amaro helped the player get up and apologised. After 28 played minutes SC Gamenhos got a freekick which was hit by António Amaro. After some careless play in the SC Gamenhos defense, Vladimiro Antas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fábio Pedroso. The SC Gamenhos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fábio Pedroso should have stopped the shot. If Júlio Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hildeberto Lucena kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Júlio Fraga made the kick off in the second half. Júlio Fraga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Fábio Pedroso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Mendo Futebol Academia booed when SC Gamenhos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xavier Correia didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Vladimiro Antas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 63rd minute Júlio Fraga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fábio Pedroso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fábio Pedroso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júlio Fraga in the 67th minute of play. After 70 played minutes, Mendo Futebol Academia's Cristóvão Coelho shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Fábio Pedroso came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mendo Futebol Academia reached it. Luís Barbosa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Baltasar Ferrão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bernardo Quintela during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Vladimiro Antas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 92 minutes, Júlio Fraga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mendo Futebol Academia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Júlio Fraga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
