Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Rui Horta took the kick off in the first half of the match. A collision led to O Varzinense F.C. getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Rubim Sequeira hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui Horta in the 3rd minute of play forced O Varzinense F.C.'s goalkeeper Raimundo Gouveia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 4 played minutes O Varzinense F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Hildeberto Jesus. Vasco Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Cândido Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rui Horta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 15th minute Rui Horta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raimundo Gouveia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute, Rubim Sobral made a precise shot to the right of Raimundo Gouveia. O Varzinense F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Rui Horta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cândido Mendes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vasco Simões's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Mauro Maia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 40 played minutes O Varzinense F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Rubim Sequeira. When SPORTING DO NORTE™'s Rubim Sobral in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye O Varzinense F.C.'s goalie prevented a goal. Raimundo Gouveia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui Horta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Raimundo Gouveia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubim Sobral in the 47th minute of play. The O Varzinense F.C. players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SPORTING DO NORTE™ were winning 0-1.

54 minutes into the match, SPORTING DO NORTE™'s goal looked a bit too open when Vasco Simões came free, but Cândido Mendes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to SPORTING DO NORTE™ getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Ilídio Meira hit a great ball. SPORTING DO NORTE™ were furious when Palmiro Taveira was red carded, 61 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Cândido Mendes had in the 63rdth minute some difficulties stopping Rubim Sequeira's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 63 minutes into the game, Rubim Sequeira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Cândido Mendes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mauro Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cândido Mendes having to interfere. Vasco Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Cândido Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rubim Sobral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raimundo Gouveia having to interfere. Mauro Maia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Cândido Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ilídio Meira during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Rubim Sobral managed to get in a good position for a shot. SPORTING DO NORTE™'s supporters rose to their feet, but Rubim Sobral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Raimundo Gouveia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauro Maia in the 84th minute of play forced SPORTING DO NORTE™'s goalkeeper Cândido Mendes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rubim Sequeira went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 94th minute, Vasco Simões ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cândido Mendes was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. After a defensive mix-up in SPORTING DO NORTE™'s zone, Mauro Maia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cândido Mendes came out of the goal and Mauro Maia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
