The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vasco Ruas during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Sport Lisboa e Benfica getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Vasco Ruas hit a great ball. The supporters of Sport Lisboa e Benfica booed when SC Calhariz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Catarino Pereira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joaquim Araújo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Miguel Caldeira made a huge save. Jorge Leal kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Miguel Caldeira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armando Jesus, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Mariano Moniz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Telmo Monsanto in the 30th minute of the match. When Tobias Rangel came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Sport Lisboa e Benfica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tobias Rangel couldn't finish the play. When Rodrigo Viegas fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Calhariz's protests and gave Rodrigo Viegas a yellow card for diving instead. 38 minutes into the game, one of SC Calhariz:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Mariano Moniz went to the wrong direction when Mário Baldaia was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Tobias Rangel took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mariano Moniz. Mariano Moniz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After 47 minutes, Jorge Leal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sport Lisboa e Benfica and the SC Calhariz players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

In the 54th minute, Joaquim Araújo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Miguel Caldeira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armando Jesus in the 56th minute of play. Miguel Caldeira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Araújo, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After 67 minutes, Raul Resende mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Calhariz and the Sport Lisboa e Benfica players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, SC Calhariz's Raul Resende got a free kick in the 67th minute. Mariano Moniz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Telmo Monsanto in the 69th minute of play. Tobias Rangel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joaquim Araújo took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Miguel Caldeira. Miguel Caldeira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Joaquim Araújo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Miguel Caldeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 96 minutes of play, SC Calhariz's Armando Jesus made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Miguel Caldeira was left in no man's land by his defense there!
