But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tobias Rangel couldn't finish the play. Vasco Simões fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Caldeira having to interfere. After 68 played minutes O Varzinense F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Hildeberto Jesus. Telmo Monsanto succeeded in the game's 71st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-3. After a defensive mix-up in Sport Lisboa e Benfica's zone, Mauro Maia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat.
