Amável Lemos started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd match minute, SC Guimarães was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lázaro Estrela to maneuver through the defense. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Guimarães's goalkeeper Adalberto Noronha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Amável Lemos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aristides Arruda having to interfere. Aristides Arruda made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustavo Ribeiro in the 13th minute. After a rather tough play, Pouve's Ricardo Cunha got a free kick in the 17th minute. 21 minutes into the match, SC Guimarães's Amável Lemos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aristides Arruda narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Amável Lemos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricardo Cunha hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. The supporters of Pouve booed when SC Guimarães was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lázaro Estrela didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pouve's Aristides Arruda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Pouve from getting a goal against them.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ricardo Cunha to strike the kick off in the second half. Aristides Arruda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lázaro Estrela, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Gustavo Ribeiro scored 2-0 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aristides Arruda, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 59thth minute of the game Amável Lemos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pouve's Aristides Arruda was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lázaro Estrela in the 61st minute of play forced Pouve's goalkeeper Aristides Arruda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 64 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Amável Lemos sped through Pouve's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Aristides Arruda. A collision led to SC Guimarães getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Gustavo Ribeiro hit a great ball. 69 minutes into the game, Pouve's Ricardo Cunha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Adalberto Noronha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Amável Lemos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Aristides Arruda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ricardo Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After recieving a nice pass, SC Guimarães's Palmiro Macieira tried to score from far away in the 83rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 86 minutes into the match, Pouve's goal looked a bit too open when Gustavo Ribeiro came free, but Aristides Arruda reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Yuri Ramos fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pouve's protests and gave Yuri Ramos a yellow card for diving instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. SC Guimarães fully deserved thier win.
