Augusto Cabral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Magalhães having to interfere. Fernando Magalhães was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Augusto Cabral showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 9 minute of play. Gonçalo Guarda struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Fernando Magalhães didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Monfanim FC. Joaquim Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Luz in the 22nd minute of play. Amadeu Lisboa's late challenge caught a Sortelha's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amadeu Lisboa helped the player get up and apologised. After 32 minutes, Paulo Luz made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Monfanim FC's Joaquim Maia tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 35th minute, Diogo Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 43rd match minute, Monfanim FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hélder Neves to maneuver through the defense. 45 minutes into the match, Monfanim FC's goal looked a bit too open when Albertino Araújo came free, but Joaquim Maia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th minute, Afonso Anjos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Albertino Araújo to make the kick off. Paulo Luzs short, quick shot in the 53rdth minute got Joaquim Maia to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The supporters of Sortelha booed when Monfanim FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodrigo Viana didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 63rd minute Albertino Araújo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquim Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Afonso Anjos during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Sortelha's Afonso Anjos got a free kick in the 67th minute. In the 68thth minute of the game Augusto Cabral who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sortelha's Fernando Magalhães was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Augusto Cabral put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Fernando Magalhães. When Monfanim FC's Gonçalo Guarda in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Joaquim Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albertino Araújo in the 80th minute of the match. Monfanim FC's Oliveira Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 89 minutes into the match, Monfanim FC's goalkeeper Joaquim Maia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulo Luz.
