Monfanim FC's Joaquim Maia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Monfanim FC from getting a goal against them. Amável Lemos succeeded in the game's 40th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-0. Henrique Paiva charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Henrique Paiva the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Palmiro Macieira walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Augusto Cabral to make the kick off. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gonçalo Guarda couldn't finish the play. A hard shot by José Barbosa from long distance, 78 minutes into the match, got Adalberto Noronha's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Adalberto Noronha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augusto Cabral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gonçalo Guarda got free with Adalberto Noronha in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
