In the 4th minute, Sandro Figueiredo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Eduardo Santos came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Coimbra fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eduardo Santos couldn't finish the play. Joaquim Barbosa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vítor Maia went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Sandro Figueiredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Barbosa having to interfere. Eduardo Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Martir getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. José Rodrigues hit a great ball. Eduardo Santos came free with the goalkeeper in the 22nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Eduardo Martins could save by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Martir's zone, Eduardo Santos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eduardo Martins came out of the goal and Eduardo Santos tried to chip the ball over his head. In a very dangerous position, a player in Martir fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 25th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Eduardo Martins, was totally fooled by Coimbra's Duarte Pinto, who 27 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lucas Leiria in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eduardo Martins saved Martir from getting behind. Martir's Eduardo Martins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Santos in the 61st minute of play. In the 64th minute, Lucas Leiria ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eduardo Martins was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. 69 minutes into the match, Coimbra's goalkeeper Joaquim Barbosa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vítor Maia. Joaquim Barbosa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vítor Maia in the 70th minute. In the 78th minute, Vítor Maia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
