The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 18 minutes into the match, Gomariz FC's Alexandre Nóbrega sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulo Esteves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Paulo Esteves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Nóbrega, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Clube Desportivo Nacional's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexandre Jordão was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. André Silva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alexandre Nóbrega to strike the kick off in the second half. After 66 played minutes, Clube Desportivo Nacional's Baltasar Fernandes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper André Silva came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre Nóbrega couldn't finish the play. Paulo Esteves didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Osvaldo Moniz went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Alexandre Jordão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gomariz FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
