Sport Clube Rio Tinto's Sérgio Moutinho couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 4th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ferreira FC. Hermínio Ramires received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Tarcísio Vital tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hildeberto Valente hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. After 15 played minutes Sport Clube Rio Tinto got a freekick which was hit by Amílcar Taborda. Osvaldo Ferraz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Osvaldo Ferraz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Amílcar Taborda fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sport Clube Rio Tinto's protests and gave Amílcar Taborda a yellow card for diving instead. Amílcar Taborda kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hermínio Ramires in the 27th minute of play forced Ferreira FC's goalkeeper Tarcísio Vital to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tarcísio Vital showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hermínio Ramires, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. 32 minutes into the match, Manuel Távora had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tarcísio Vital. Ferreira FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Manuel Távora was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 36th minute Manuel Távora shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tarcísio Vital saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 38 minutes Ferreira FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sérgio Moutinho who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Sport Clube Rio Tinto's corner Sérgio Moutinho fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tarcísio Vital quite easily take care of the ball. After a rather tough play, Ferreira FC's Claudemiro Salgado got a free kick in the 41st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hermínio Ramires in the 42nd minute of play forced Ferreira FC's goalkeeper Tarcísio Vital to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manuel Távora sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Xavier Graça kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. After 56 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ferreira FC! Sérgio Moutinho shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Ferreira FC's Tarcísio Vital proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Ferreira FC from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the Ferreira FC defense, Hermínio Ramires kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tarcísio Vital. The Ferreira FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tarcísio Vital should have stopped the shot. Sport Clube Rio Tinto's Amílcar Taborda got his second yellow card of the match in the 72nd minute. The referee ordered Amílcar Taborda off the ground. In the 74th minute, Raimundo Curado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 75 minutes into the match, Ferreira FC's Catarino Pais sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Américo Borges narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hermínio Ramires had several of the Ferreira FC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 78 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-4 score and a disappointed Tarcísio Vital as he didn't even see the shot coming. 83 minutes into the match, Ferreira FC's goalkeeper Tarcísio Vital had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hermínio Ramires. Manuel Távora struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Tarcísio Vital didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sport Clube Rio Tinto. After 87 played minutes Ferreira FC got a freekick which was hit by Hildeberto Valente. The audience cheered when Sérgio Moutinho's long shot passed Tarcísio Vital's right side. It was 0-5, 88 minutes into the match. Tarcísio Vital took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermínio Ramires, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Ferreira FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Sport Clube Rio Tinto's performance. The match ended with a win for Sport Clube Rio Tinto.
