Manuel Maia started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Estevão Lameiras in the 5th minute of play forced SC Cruzetinhos's goalkeeper André Fontes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the SC Rapa defense, Alfredo Alves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Geraldo Candeias. The SC Rapa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Geraldo Candeias should have stopped the shot. André Fontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Estevão Lameiras, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. After 26 minutes, Estevão Lameiras made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. SC Cruzetinhos's André Fontes tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Manuel Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geraldo Candeias having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Estevão Lameiras stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. André Fontes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Estevão Lameiras's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. The supporters of SC Rapa booed when SC Cruzetinhos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cláudio Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Geraldo Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SC Rapa's Geraldo Travassos got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cláudio Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Manuel Maia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Geraldo Candeias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 89th minute, SC Cruzetinhos's Manuel Maia dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. With his leg Geraldo Candeias managed to avoid a goal in the 93rdth minute, when SC Cruzetinhos's Alfredo Alves fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched SC Cruzetinhos eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
