The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Tomé Linhares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manuel Bento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Manuel Lencastre tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joaquim Bessa in the 10th minute of play forced Vitória de Coimbra SC's goalkeeper Eurico Castilho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manuel Bento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Lencastre having to interfere. If Gregório Cesário had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 23 minutes into the match, Gregório Cesário notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Vitória de Coimbra SC's Eurico Castilho. Eurico Castilho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of SC Aires booed when Vitória de Coimbra SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elias Loureiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to SC Aires getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Gregório Cesário hit a great ball. In the 27th minute, Gregório Cesário fired away a free kick at goal. It was hit a tad too hard, and went over the crossbar. Eurico Castilho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joaquim Bessa in the 30th minute of the match. Graciano Carvalho hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Vitória de Coimbra SC's Sílvio Carvalho couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for SC Aires. Manuel Lencastre showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Márcio Guterres in the 34th minute of the match. Manuel Lencastre made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Manuel Bento sent off a good shot on target. Vitória de Coimbra SC's Eurico Castilho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Bessa in the 39th minute of play. After having played for 45 minutes, Manuel Bento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vitória de Coimbra SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Bento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Vitória de Coimbra SC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SC Aires were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gregório Cesário made a kick off. Manuel Lencastre took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elias Loureiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manuel Lencastre showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Márcio Guterres in the 62nd minute of the match. In the 65th minute Gregório Cesário shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eurico Castilho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Josué Borges hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Joaquim Bessa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 69 played minutes Vitória de Coimbra SC got a freekick which was hit by Elias Loureiro. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SC Aires walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
