Mascarenhas's Armindo Fonseca was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 16th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. After 22 played minutes Rale FC got a freekick which was hit by Fernando Sousa. Armindo Fonseca kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 26thth minute. Though ot was a great shot Rale FC's keeper Alfredo Borges was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Bernardo Araújo kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Armindo Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Borges having to interfere. Edmund Kluska made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from António Gomes in the 33rd minute of play. Carlos Alves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for António Gomes to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Rale FC defense, Alexandre Santos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alfredo Borges. The Rale FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alfredo Borges should have stopped the shot. In the 58th minute António Gomes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmund Kluska saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Armindo Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Borges having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Rale FC's Edmund Kluska threw himself towards the right post 63 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from António Gomes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Edmund Kluska made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Carlos Alves sent off a good shot on target. 68 minutes in the game, António Gomes fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Edmund Kluska having to interfere. Eusébio Matias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Edmund Kluska made a huge save. If Armindo Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 75thth minute of the game Armindo Fonseca who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rale FC's Alfredo Borges was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Armindo Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Alfredo Borges tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute of the match, António Gomes tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Edmund Kluska saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With a little luck, Mascarenhas's Edmund Kluska got control of the ball when Carlos Alves tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Rale FC booed when Mascarenhas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastião Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 85 played minutes, Rale FC's Bernardo Araújo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Edmund Kluska came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rale FC reached it. Rale FC's Fernando Sousa got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Armindo Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Rale FC's Fernando Sousa got a free kick in the 95th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Mascarenhas fans cheered their team off the field, for while Rale FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
