The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Algarve FC booed when pargueiros was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gonçalo Cordeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th minute, pargueiros's Gonçalo Cordeiro fired away a free kick that almost went in the goal. Homero Quadros was prepared for the shot, but didn't have to make a play as the shot flew over the goal. Rafael Vasconcelos's late challenge caught a pargueiros's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rafael Vasconcelos helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonçalo Cordeiro in the 11th minute of play forced Algarve FC's goalkeeper Homero Quadros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gonçalo Cordeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Homero Quadros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 18 played minutes pargueiros got a freekick which was hit by Cassiano Salazar. Renato Neiva hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. The supporters of pargueiros booed when Algarve FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matias Barata didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matias Barata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flávio Mascarenhas having to interfere. Gonçalo Cordeiro hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Algarve FC's Matias Barata got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gonçalo Cordeiro made a kick off. Sálvio Araújo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 61st minute Gonçalo Cordeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Homero Quadros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Óscar Torres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eduardo Melo struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Flávio Mascarenhas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Algarve FC. After a rather tough play, pargueiros's Cassiano Salazar got a free kick in the 70th minute. After having played for 87 minutes, Sálvio Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Algarve FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sálvio Araújo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gonçalo Cordeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gonçalo Cordeiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Homero Quadros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gonçalo Cordeiro ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Algarve FC's zone, Gonçalo Cordeiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Homero Quadros came out of the goal and Gonçalo Cordeiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
