The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nuno Martins, 24 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. When Torcato Rijo came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the GAIENSES fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Torcato Rijo couldn't finish the play. In a very dangerous position, a player in GAIENSES fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 35th minute. Penalty! An unexpectedly hard shot by Torcato Rijo in the 44th minute of play forced Calmar's goalkeeper Jorge Valente to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cassiano Vilaverde recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Calmar's goalkeeper Jorge Valente, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Calmar booed when GAIENSES was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Meira didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind GAIENSES's goalkeeper Gusmão Bezerra, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Israel Mansilha took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 75th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jorge Valente. Calmar's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 79th match minute, GAIENSES was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Israel Mansilha to maneuver through the defense. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Veiga got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gusmão Bezerra quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Frederico Guerra during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in GAIENSES fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 82nd minute. Penalty! If Manuel Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 89 minutes into the match, Daniel Veiga dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gusmão Bezerra, 0-3. If Daniel Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Calmar had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
