In the 9th minute, Paulo Assis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Joel Marques's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rui Amaro was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Rui Amaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Assis in the 22nd minute of play. In the 25th minute, Artur Simões fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Manuel Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Amílcar Pinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Joel Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 31st minute Joel Marques shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Amaro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rui Amaro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Assis, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Amílcar Pinto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artur Simões in the 34th minute of play. Sebastião Viegas might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Amílcar Pinto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sebastião Viegas ran back to his position shaking his head. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Paulo Assis was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute Artur Simões shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amílcar Pinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Amílcar Pinto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Artur Simões, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Joel Marques didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 0-1 via right post in the game's 69th minute. Balugaes's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! Abel Coelho's late challenge caught a SC Ermezinde's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Abel Coelho helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Balugaes's Abel Coelho got a free kick in the 72nd minute. With a little luck, SC Ermezinde's Rui Amaro got control of the ball when Joel Marques tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Paulo Assis kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rui Amaro. That made the score 0-2 in the 82 minute of play. If Joel Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sebastião Viegas charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sebastião Viegas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to SC Ermezinde getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Sebastião Viegas hit a great ball. SC Ermezinde's Rui Amaro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Assis in the 89th minute of play. In the 91st match minute, Balugaes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandre Soares to maneuver through the defense. Rui Amaro made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Joel Marques sent off a good shot on target. 95 minutes into the match, SC Ermezinde's goalkeeper Rui Amaro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alexandre Soares. The Balugaes players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
