When Joel Aleixo came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Pombas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Aleixo couldn't finish the play. When the match clock showed 4 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Jorge Torres sped through SC Marateca's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sidónio Macieira. Joel Aleixo struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Sidónio Macieira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pombas. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Laureano Cavaco managed to get in a good position for a shot. After a defensive mix-up in SC Marateca's zone, Joel Aleixo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sidónio Macieira came out of the goal and Joel Aleixo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 21 minutes into the game, Pombas's Jorge Torres nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sidónio Macieira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Jorge Torres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Sidónio Macieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee gave Pombas a penalty, 41 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Adolfo Setúbal, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of SC Marateca's Sidónio Macieira. 0-3. Marco Luz made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Laureano Cavaco sent off a good shot on target. Marco Luz was a little too slow when Saúl Galvão got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 48th minute. The score was now 1-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Saúl Galvão made a kick off. Sidónio Macieira was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jorge Torres showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 53 minute of play. 57 minutes into the match, SC Marateca's goalkeeper Sidónio Macieira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joel Aleixo. Laureano Cavaco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The tension between the Pombas and the SC Marateca players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Pombas's Delfim Bessa got a free kick in the 75th minute. After 76 minutes, Laureano Cavaco made it 2-5 with a short kick to the right side. Pombas's Marco Luz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Joel Aleixo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidónio Macieira having to interfere. When Pombas's Joel Aleixo in 93 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Sidónio Macieira guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. After a defensive mix-up in Pombas's zone, Laureano Cavaco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marco Luz came out of the goal and Laureano Cavaco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Saúl Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 98th minute, Delfim Bessa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 100thth minute of the game Laureano Cavaco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pombas's Marco Luz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Pombas played a much better game than SC Marateca and deserved their victory. The SC Marateca players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
