With his leg Cláudio Carneiro managed to avoid a goal in the 4thth minute, when FC Porto's Aparício Mendonça fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Aparício Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Porto's supporters rose to their feet, but Aparício Mendonça was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cláudio Carneiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With his leg Cláudio Carneiro managed to avoid a goal in the 9thth minute, when FC Porto's Isidro Simões fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Cláudio Carneiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isidro Simões, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. 16 minutes into the match, SC Goncalinha's goalkeeper Cláudio Carneiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aparício Mendonça. Isidro Simões recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 19 minutes, Aparício Salvado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Porto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aparício Salvado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aparício Salvado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Simão Domingos came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Goncalinha's Paulo Viegas. But to his dismay, Paulo Viegas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 30th minute, Paulo Viegas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cláudio Carneiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Graciano Matias in the 31st minute. After 32 minutes SC Goncalinha's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Rodrigo Vasconcelos who took care of the corner kick. After having played for 34 minutes, Aparício Salvado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Porto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aparício Salvado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 35 played minutes SC Goncalinha got a freekick which was hit by Amílcar Aleixo. 41 minutes into the match, SC Goncalinha's goal looked a bit too open when Aparício Salvado came free, but Cláudio Carneiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 49th minute of the match FC Porto got a corner. SC Goncalinha's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rodrigo Vasconcelos ran over to the corner to take the kick. Rodrigo Vasconcelos made a great header on FC Porto's corner, it was just that SC Goncalinha's Cláudio Carneiro managed to reach the ball for a save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aparício Mendonça to make the kick off. In the 57th minute Gaspar Rodrigues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simão Domingos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 59 played minutes FC Porto got a freekick which was hit by Quintino Serpa. In the 61st minute, SC Goncalinha's Gaspar Rodrigues ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Simão Domingos. Simão Domingos yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. In the 66th minute Aparício Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Carneiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Porto's Graciano Matias got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cláudio Carneiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aparício Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 74th minute Aparício Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Carneiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aparício Mendonça in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cláudio Carneiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gaspar Rodrigues kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Aparício Salvado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Cláudio Carneiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When FC Porto's Aparício Mendonça in the 88th minute got a chance for a shot 88th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SC Goncalinha's goalie prevented a goal. Simão Domingos made an important save on a dangerous shot by David Correia in the 90th minute. Aparício Mendonça took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cláudio Carneiro. Cláudio Carneiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. When the referee ended the match the FC Porto players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
