Bernardo Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 5 minutes into the match, Académico do Porto's António Moura sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bernardo Brito narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Académico do Porto booed when Joane FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xavier Reis didn't get a good kick on the ball. António Moura came free with the goalkeeper in the 8th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Bernardo Brito could save by the left post. Elias Raposo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Figueiredo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. André Figueiredo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 23rd minute there was a penalty for Académico do Porto. Eusébio Távora stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Bernardo Brito. 1-1. In the 32nd minute of the match Vítor Magalhães shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elias Raposo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpected shot in the 34th minute by António Moura got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Eusébio Henriques kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. If Manuel Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. André Figueiredo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Manuel Carvalho came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Joane FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Carvalho couldn't finish the play. Bernardo Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Danilo Rocha in the 52nd minute of the match. After having played for 53 minutes, António Moura managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Académico do Porto's supporters crossed their fingers, but António Moura was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. André Figueiredo struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Elias Raposo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Joane FC. In the 59th minute, Miguel Novais hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Joane FC's Manuel Carvalho in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Académico do Porto's goalie prevented a goal. After 67 minutes, Miguel Domingues mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Joane FC and the Académico do Porto players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Joane FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 67th minute. Penalty! Bernardo Brito went to the wrong direction when Eusébio Távora was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. In the 73rd minute, António Moura got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Académico do Porto's Danilo Rocha got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Xavier Reis kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. The supporters of Académico do Porto booed when Joane FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xavier Reis didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Danilo Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Académico do Porto fans cheered their team off the field, for while Joane FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
