Júlio Ferreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Dantas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 13 minutes into the match, Nordeste FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lourenço Valente came free, but Lúcio Leiria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14th minute, Amadeu Vale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. António Pinho was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 15th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Luz got free with Júlio Ferreira in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Alberto Luz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nordeste FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alberto Luz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Júlio Ferreira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 28th minute of the match Américo Fonseca sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Júlio Ferreira skillfully saved the ball. After 29 minutes, Alexandre Guerreiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Famoes and the Nordeste FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Nordeste FC reached it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alberto Luz during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Nordeste FC's Alberto Luz got a free kick in the 35th minute. Pedro Dantas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 45 minutes into the match, Nordeste FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lourenço Valente came free, but Lúcio Leiria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lourenço Valente stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tomás Nogueira struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Lúcio Leiria didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Famoes. Lúcio Leiria made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lourenço Valente in the 54th minute. The referee gave Nordeste FC a penalty, 78 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gustavo Lima, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Famoes's Júlio Ferreira. 3-0. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Famoes's Lourenço Valente in the 83rd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Lúcio Leiria was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Nordeste FC through an amazing save. Lúcio Leiria made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Tomás Nogueira sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet as Tomás Nogueira kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lúcio Leiria. That made the score 3-1 in the 86 minute of play. In the 90th minute, Alberto Luz made a precise shot to the right of Júlio Ferreira. Famoes's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. If Alberto Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Famoes's Júlio Ferreira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Dantas in the 98th minute of play. Nordeste FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
