Pedro Pinho kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. In the 5th minute, Diogo Esteves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. FC America's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olívio Mafra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Olívio Mafra fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC America's protests and gave Olívio Mafra a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SC Pateo booed when FC America was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olívio Mafra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Diogo Esteves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Bento Serpa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC America's Bento Serpa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandre Guarda in the 20th minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, SC Pateo's Alexandre Guarda sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bento Serpa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 28th match minute, FC America was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isidro Quinaz to maneuver through the defense. FC America's Bento Serpa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diogo Esteves in the 29th minute of play. Artur Resende made an important save on a dangerous shot by Olívio Mafra in the 31st minute. Bento Serpa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Guarda in the 34th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diogo Esteves in the 39th minute of play forced FC America's goalkeeper Bento Serpa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bento Serpa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1.

In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC America's goalkeeper Bento Serpa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 57th match minute, FC America was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Máximo Veloso to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to FC America getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Cândido Figueiras hit a great ball. Alexandre Guarda kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. José Fernandes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Artur Resende having to make a save. Olívio Mafra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre Guarda couldn't finish the play. Olívio Mafra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Resende having to interfere. Diogo Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Diogo Esteves managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Pateo's supporters rose to their feet, but Diogo Esteves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bento Serpa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The SC Pateo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SC Pateo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
