When Laércio Caldeira fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gaieiras FC's protests and gave Laércio Caldeira a yellow card for diving instead. After 3 played minutes Gaieiras FC got a freekick which was hit by Laércio Caldeira. When the match had gone on for 4 minutes, Armindo Abreu put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Cristiano Sobral. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui Nascimento in the 8th minute of play forced Gaieiras FC's goalkeeper Cristiano Sobral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 13 minutes, Rui Nascimento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cabanes and the Gaieiras FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Gaieiras FC booed when Cabanes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14thth minute of the game Heitor Santos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cabanes's Américo Vale was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Xavier Neves in the 17thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Cristiano Sobral, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Oliveira Ferreira kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eurico Salvado in the 29th minute of play forced Cabanes's goalkeeper Américo Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Armindo Abreu made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Gaieiras FC's zone, Xavier Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristiano Sobral came out of the goal and Xavier Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Xavier Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Xavier Neves came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Cabanes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xavier Neves couldn't finish the play. Armindo Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Cristiano Sobral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute, Avelino Gentil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eurico Salvado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Gaieiras FC booed when Cabanes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélder Valente didn't get a good kick on the ball. 75 minutes into the match, Cabanes's goalkeeper Américo Vale had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eurico Salvado. Armindo Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Cristiano Sobral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 90 minutes into the match, Eurico Salvado notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Cabanes's Américo Vale. Américo Vale was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 94th minute, Eurico Salvado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
