The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Mariados da Cabeça's goal looked a bit too open when João Pinho came free, but Lucas Borges reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. João Pinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucas Borges having to interfere. André Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Lucas Borges tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Rebordinho's João Pinho in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mariados da Cabeça's goalie prevented a goal. Amílcar Magalhães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidónio Baldaia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pedro Ferro's late challenge caught a Mariados da Cabeça's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedro Ferro helped the player get up and apologised. After 22 played minutes Rebordinho got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Ferro. Eusébio Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lucas Borges made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armindo Marques in the 29th minute of play. Mariados da Cabeça's Lucas Borges played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Pinho in the 31st minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sidónio Baldaia in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Amílcar Magalhães saved Rebordinho from getting behind. When André Carneiro came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Rebordinho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that André Carneiro couldn't finish the play. Rebordinho's Amílcar Magalhães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Avelino Fontoura in the 38th minute of play. In the 43rd minute, Sidónio Baldaia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If João Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Avelino Fontoura made a kick off. 57 minutes into the game, one of Mariados da Cabeça:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Lucas Borges showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Carneiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. André Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Lucas Borges tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Mariados da Cabeça's Avelino Fontoura got a free kick in the 70th minute. The supporters of Rebordinho booed when Mariados da Cabeça was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Reis didn't get a good kick on the ball. 79 minutes into the match, Mariados da Cabeça's goal looked a bit too open when Joaquim Macedo came free, but Lucas Borges reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
