The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The supporters of SC Picoitos booed when Varejeira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eusébio Soares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedro Ramos might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lúcio Azevedo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lúcio Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nuno Martins in the 71st minute of the match. Pedro Ramos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lúcio Azevedo having to interfere. Lúcio Azevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Ramos in the 81st minute. Varejeira's Lúcio Azevedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Varejeira from getting a goal against them. Lourenço Correia hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded.
