Palmiro Zambujal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Jesus having to interfere. Lucílio Roriz's late challenge caught a Roem FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lucílio Roriz helped the player get up and apologised. After 11 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Meijoadas FC! Eusébio Porto shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Through an outstanding action, after 20 minutes, António Jesus successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 29th minute of the match, Alexandrino Fraga tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but António Jesus saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Rodrigo Gonçalves hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Alexandrino Fraga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Meijoadas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexandrino Fraga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. António Jesus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Basílio Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Basílio Monteiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Tobias Pereira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Reinaldo Festas hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. 40 minutes into the game, Eusébio Porto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Roem FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Meijoadas FC the free kick. The supporters of Meijoadas FC booed when Roem FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eusébio Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. António Jesus was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Osvaldo Macedo. When Teófilo Calheiros fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Meijoadas FC's protests and gave Teófilo Calheiros a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Roem FC booed when Meijoadas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teófilo Calheiros didn't get a good kick on the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alexandrino Fraga made a kick off. In the 56th minute Alexandrino Fraga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but António Jesus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Basílio Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Meijoadas FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Basílio Fernandes 60 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-1. Basílio Fernandes received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tobias Pereira came out and tried to block the shot, but Basílio Fernandes slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 64th minute. The attack was good, but when Basílio Fernandes in the 68th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. 70 minutes into the game, Palmiro Zambujal cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. António Jesus was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 78th minute, Manuel Pinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 80th match minute, Meijoadas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldo Macedo to maneuver through the defense. 89 minutes had been played when some careless play by Roem FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Lucílio Roriz was slow to take the kick. During this time Meijoadas FC's players had a chance to rest. Meijoadas FC's Lucílio Roriz was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but António Jesus in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 93 played minutes Roem FC got a freekick which was hit by Rodrigo Gonçalves. In the 94th minute of the match Lucílio Roriz shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but António Jesus showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Basílio Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tobias Pereira having to interfere. Roem FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
