After 36 minutes, Nuno Paredes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Matozinhos FC and the Alhandra FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by António Sousa in the 39th minute of play forced Alhandra FC's goalkeeper Ricardo Coelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ricardo Fernandes's late challenge caught a Alhandra FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ricardo Fernandes helped the player get up and apologised. Ricardo Fernandes hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when António Sousa made the kick off in the second half. Alhandra FC's Ricardo Coelho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Alhandra FC from getting a goal against them. Luís Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Sérgio Fernandes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Matozinhos FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
