Salvador Morais showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivo Lobo in the 4th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Severiano Vital managed to get in a good position for a shot. SCBraga's supporters rose to their feet, but Severiano Vital was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hélder Meireles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to SC Sousa team getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Amílcar Baldaia hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, SCBraga's Humberto Junqueira tried to score from far away in the 9th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Severiano Vital could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Hélder Meireles made a huge save. If Lúcio Couto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Salvador Morais showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivo Lobo, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After a defensive mix-up in SC Sousa team's zone, Artur Torres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélder Meireles came out of the goal and Artur Torres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Artur Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Severiano Vital came free with the goalkeeper in the 24th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Hélder Meireles could save by the left post. In the 26th minute, Artur Torres fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Hélder Meireles, passed just outside the right post. In the 28th minute Ivo Lobo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Salvador Morais saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hélder Meireles made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Severiano Vital sent off a good shot on target. In the 48th minute, Ivo Lobo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Sousa team fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Ivo Lobo made the kick off in the second half. Severiano Vital sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hélder Meireles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severiano Vital, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Salvador Morais made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivo Lobo in the 61st minute of play. Severiano Vital's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hélder Meireles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. António Mesquita kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. With a little luck, SCBraga's Salvador Morais got control of the ball when Lúcio Couto tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in SC Sousa team's zone, Artur Torres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélder Meireles came out of the goal and Artur Torres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hélder Meireles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severiano Vital in the 80th minute of play. Artur Torres blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hélder Meireles having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artur Torres in the 91st minute of play forced SC Sousa team's goalkeeper Hélder Meireles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to SC Sousa team getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Kevin Sá hit a great ball. Humberto Junqueira took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 95th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Hélder Meireles. SC Sousa team's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
