After taking down the ball on Semitela's corner Vítor Sousa fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Torbjörn Hedberg quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpected shot in the 21st minute by Afonso Viegas got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Semitela's goalkeeper Pedro Pacheco, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 28 minutes into the match, Afonso Viegas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pedro Pacheco. Emílio Pedroso received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal.
