Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marco Vilanova fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Macena having to interfere. In the 14th minute, acfafe's Fabiano Casado dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Cesário Veríssimo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SC Gontinho's Paulo Monsanto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Januário Andrade in the 20th minute of play. Pedro Macena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Márcio Granja in the 24th minute of play. After 25 minutes, Éder Barbosa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the acfafe and the SC Gontinho players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of SC Gontinho booed when acfafe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Éder Barbosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the game, Márcio Granja cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Pedro Macena was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Paulo Monsanto made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Cesário Veríssimo sent off a good shot on target. Márcio Granja kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. If Marco Vilanova had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Gontinho's Marco Vilanova got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 45 minutes into the game, one of acfafe:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After the first half SC Gontinho were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

If Márcio Granja had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 56th minute, Lúcio Queiroga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Januário Andrade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Marco Vilanova came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the SC Gontinho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marco Vilanova couldn't finish the play. André Brás kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. acfafe's Pedro Macena proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save acfafe from getting a goal against them. Januário Andrade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Monsanto having to interfere. Paulo Monsanto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesário Veríssimo in the 71st minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as SC Gontinho's Marco Vilanova slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Pedro Macena. That made the score 1-3 after 72 minutes of play. After some careless play in the SC Gontinho defense, Januário Andrade kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paulo Monsanto. The SC Gontinho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulo Monsanto should have stopped the shot. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind acfafe's goalkeeper Pedro Macena, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Márcio Granja was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 87th minute. SC Gontinho's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Pedro Macena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Márcio Granja, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 91st minute, Januário Andrade ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paulo Monsanto was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3.
