Lúcio Quintas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Operário F.C getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. When Rui Valente fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Neiva's protests and gave Rui Valente a yellow card for diving instead. The audience was convinced that Fernando Oliveira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lúcio Quintas was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. After 39 minutes of play, Neiva's Fernando Oliveira made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lúcio Quintas was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nuno Gueifão in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lúcio Quintas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Operário F.C players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Neiva were winning 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Serafim Estrada was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 61 minutes, Fernando Oliveira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Neiva's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernando Oliveira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Neiva's Nuno Gueifão got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 66 minutes into the match, Operário F.C's Rodrigo Melo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Amadeu Figueiredo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fernando Oliveira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Reinaldo Prestes kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Lúcio Quintas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fernando Oliveira's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. 78 minutes into the match, Operário F.C's goalkeeper Lúcio Quintas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nuno Gueifão. Neiva's Fernando Oliveira got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nuno Gueifão who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 81stth minute tested the skills of Lúcio Quintas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Operário F.C's Lúcio Quintas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Operário F.C from getting a goal against them. In the 86th minute, Operário F.C's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Nuno Gueifão fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Lúcio Quintas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernando Oliveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 95 minutes into the match, Operário F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Rui Valente came free, but Lúcio Quintas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Neiva's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
