The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Miguel Fontes kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. The referee ignored SC Buarcos's protests and gave Bruno Baptista a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, SC Buarcos's Bruno Baptista got a free kick in the 11th minute. SC Esmoriz's Cláudio Mota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomé Moniz in the 18th minute of play. Cândido Leiria's late challenge caught a SC Buarcos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cândido Leiria helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to SC Esmoriz getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Cândido Leiria hit a great ball. In the 25th minute, SC Esmoriz's Alexandre Porto dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Fontes in the 33rd minute of play forced SC Buarcos's goalkeeper Humberto Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexandre Porto in the 34thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Humberto Fonseca, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Cláudio Mota stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomé Moniz's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. If Miguel Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomé Moniz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When André Ferreira came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the SC Esmoriz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that André Ferreira couldn't finish the play. Lúcio Pinto charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lúcio Pinto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 53rd match minute, SC Esmoriz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lúcio Pinto to maneuver through the defense. Cláudio Mota took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomé Moniz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes into the game, SC Esmoriz's Alexandre Porto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Humberto Fonseca made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. SC Esmoriz's supporters rose to their feet, but Miguel Fontes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Esmoriz's Miguel Fontes got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 85 minutes, Adalberto Bettencourt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Buarcos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adalberto Bettencourt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Tomé Moniz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adalberto Bettencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Cláudio Mota tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the SC Buarcos players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for SC Esmoriz.
