Borda FC's Mariano Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Alves in the 3rd minute of play. The supporters of Almelaguez booed when Borda FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélio Garcia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 5 played minutes Borda FC got a freekick which was hit by Aprígio Ramos. Ricardo Vieira, 6 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. One of Borda FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Almelaguez:s goal. In the 14th minute there was a penalty for Almelaguez. Ricardo Vieira stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Mariano Esteves. 0-1. After 22 played minutes Borda FC got a freekick which was hit by Rúben Pimenta. Borda FC's Mariano Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Alves in the 24th minute of play. Vicente Oliveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mariano Esteves having to interfere. Vicente Oliveira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mariano Esteves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Romão Faria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Filipe Luz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 32 minutes, João Neves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Almelaguez and the Borda FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 32 played minutes Almelaguez got a freekick which was hit by João Neves. Rúben Pimenta was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 33rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Romão Faria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Borda FC's goalkeeper Mariano Esteves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Saúl Sampaio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 59 played minutes Borda FC got a freekick which was hit by Aprígio Ramos. A collision led to Borda FC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Hélio Garcia hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Alfredo Alves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Almelaguez's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfredo Alves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mariano Esteves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 63 played minutes Borda FC got a freekick which was hit by Hélio Garcia. In the 65th minute Vicente Oliveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mariano Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Borda FC's Mariano Esteves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Borda FC from getting a goal against them. Borda FC's Romão Faria got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mariano Esteves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vicente Oliveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Saúl Sampaio's late challenge caught a Almelaguez's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Saúl Sampaio helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Almelaguez booed when Borda FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saúl Sampaio didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Mariano Esteves managed to avoid a goal in the 91stth minute, when Almelaguez's Alfredo Alves fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Saúl Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
