SC Azores's Jarbas Aveiro got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Amadeu Ferreira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Ivan Moita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ivan Moita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Dantas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Dantas in the 22nd minute of play forced SC Azores's goalkeeper Ivan Moita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Fábio Branco fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cercio's protests and gave Fábio Branco a yellow card for diving instead. In the 28th minute, Fábio Branco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alexandre Dantas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ivan Moita having to make a save. If Américo Vilas Boas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 38 minutes into the match, Cercio's goal looked a bit too open when Jarbas Aveiro came free, but Paulo Matias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Cercio's zone, Américo Vilas Boas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Matias came out of the goal and Américo Vilas Boas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulo Matias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jarbas Aveiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. In the 47th match minute, Cercio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nuno Correia to maneuver through the defense. 49 minutes into the game, SC Azores's Américo Vilas Boas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulo Matias made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Alexandre Dantas made the kick off in the second half. Américo Vilas Boas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 56thth minute tested the skills of Paulo Matias when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Alexandre Dantas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Ivan Moita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jarbas Aveiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Matias having to interfere. Ivan Moita came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by Cercio's Alexandre Dantas. But to his dismay, Alexandre Dantas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Ivan Moita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Dantas in the 74th minute of the match. Cercio's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Jarbas Aveiro 78 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-3. Cercio's Paulo Matias proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Cercio from getting a goal against them. Américo Vilas Boas struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Paulo Matias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Azores. In the 88th minute of the match, Estevão Macena tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Paulo Matias saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The supporters of Cercio booed when SC Azores was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gastão Pinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 94th minute, Alexandre Dantas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 96th minute Alexandre Dantas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Moita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 100 minutes into the game, Estevão Macena was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Azores's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cercio the free kick. A collision led to SC Azores getting a freekick after 100 minutes play. Estevão Macena hit a great ball. The Cercio supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching SC Azores's performance. The match ended with a win for SC Azores.
