Dércio Resende took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 10th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ricardo Brito. SC Formigas's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Graciano Marques managed to get in a good position for a shot. SL RED's supporters rose to their feet, but Graciano Marques was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Brito breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. João Aleixo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xavier Valadão having to interfere. João Aleixo succeeded in the game's 31st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. 38 minutes into the match, SL RED's goal looked a bit too open when Simão Cruz came free, but Xavier Valadão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th minute, Augusto Vilaça got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ricardo Brito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Vilaça, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in SL RED's zone, João Aleixo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Xavier Valadão came out of the goal and João Aleixo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Augusto Vilaça struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Ricardo Brito didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SL RED. After 67 played minutes SL RED got a freekick which was hit by Almiro Mendonça. Almiro Mendonça kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. The supporters of SC Formigas booed when SL RED was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Marques didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ricardo Brito was a little too slow when Augusto Vilaça got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 89th minute. The score was now 1-1. Pedro Costa's late challenge caught a SL RED's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedro Costa helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to SC Formigas getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Pedro Costa hit a great ball. If Graciano Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
