CITYCAR CLUB's supporters rose to their feet, but Teodoro Paixão was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marco Ferro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tiago Pedroso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Ferro having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nuno Graça in the 11th minute of play forced SC Esteves's goalkeeper Marco Ferro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Ferro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teodoro Paixão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute, Teodoro Paixão ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marco Ferro was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 21st minute of the match Márcio Castilho shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marco Ferro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 22 minutes into the game, CITYCAR CLUB's Teodoro Paixão nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The tension between the SC Esteves and the CITYCAR CLUB players grew even worse after the yellow card. CITYCAR CLUB's Olavo Peixoto was substituted for Nuno Graça. After a rather tough play, SC Esteves's Rui Gaspar got a free kick in the 35th minute. 37 minutes into the match, Olavo Peixoto notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of SC Esteves's Marco Ferro. Marco Ferro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Teodoro Paixão struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Marco Ferro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CITYCAR CLUB. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Teodoro Paixão to strike the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Hélio Viegas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Marco Ferro. That made the score 0-4 in the 53 minute of play. In the 60th minute Hélio Viegas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Ferro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 64 minutes into the game, SC Esteves's Cristóvão Freitas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Filipe Braga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. Amadeu Galvão charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Amadeu Galvão the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Marco Ferro, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Teodoro Paixão took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marco Ferro. Marco Ferro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-5. Marco Ferro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodoro Paixão in the 86th minute of play. 89 minutes into the match, SC Esteves's Cristóvão Freitas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Filipe Braga narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 96th minute of the match Manuel Anjos shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Filipe Braga showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. CITYCAR CLUB's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
