Amável Bettencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 5th minute, one of SC Trevoes:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SC Trevoes. A collision led to Sporting do Barreiro getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Tarcísio Lameiras hit a great ball. André Valente fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusébio Colaço having to interfere. Amável Bettencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Laurentino Mansilha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amável Bettencourt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amável Bettencourt in the 20th minute of play forced SC Trevoes's goalkeeper Laurentino Mansilha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Amável Bettencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th match minute, SC Trevoes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime Campos to maneuver through the defense. Amável Bettencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SC Trevoes's Laurentino Mansilha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amável Bettencourt in the 31st minute of play. Amável Bettencourt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Laurentino Mansilha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicolau Neves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jaime Campos struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Eusébio Colaço didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Trevoes. The audience thought a goal was coming when André Valente got free with Eusébio Colaço in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 46 minutes into the match, Nicolau Neves notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of SC Trevoes's Laurentino Mansilha. Laurentino Mansilha was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Patrício Velasques stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Nicolau Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting do Barreiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicolau Neves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patrício Velasques in the 54th minute of play forced Sporting do Barreiro's goalkeeper Eusébio Colaço to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting do Barreiro's zone, Patrício Velasques stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eusébio Colaço came out of the goal and Patrício Velasques tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 63 minutes, Laurentino Ruas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Trevoes and the Sporting do Barreiro players grew even worse after the yellow card. After having played for 68 minutes, Nicolau Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting do Barreiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicolau Neves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Laurentino Mansilha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolau Neves, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolau Neves in the 77th minute of play forced SC Trevoes's goalkeeper Laurentino Mansilha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 77th minute, Jaime Campos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Laurentino Mansilha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicolau Neves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. André Valente received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Eusébio Colaço tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of SC Trevoes booed when Sporting do Barreiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tarcísio Lameiras didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eusébio Colaço had in the 89thth minute some difficulties stopping Rúben Loureiro's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 91st minute, SC Trevoes's Rúben Loureiro seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Rúben Loureiro the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of SC Trevoes protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Rúben Loureiro had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. A collision led to SC Trevoes getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Rúben Loureiro hit a great ball. 93 minutes into the match, Sporting do Barreiro's Virgílio Portugal broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 96th minute Nicolau Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laurentino Mansilha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Sporting do Barreiro had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
