Rúben Sanches showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Márcio Lousada, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. If Márcio Lousada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Teixeiro booed when Varela United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vasco Ferrão didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Diego Sales during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 17 played minutes Teixeiro got a freekick which was hit by Diego Sales. After having played for 22 minutes, Belchior Macena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Teixeiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Belchior Macena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Márcio Lousada sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 27th minute, Varela United's António Dantas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Raul Ruas. Raul Ruas yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 33rd match minute, Varela United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafael Azenha to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Teixeiro's zone, António Dantas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raul Ruas came out of the goal and António Dantas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ivo Caeiro struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Raul Ruas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Varela United. Diego Sales kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. A hard shot by Vasco Ferrão from long distance, 41 minutes into the match, got Raul Ruas's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, António Dantas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Varela United's supporters rose to their feet, but António Dantas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Raul Ruas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The wind increased when António Dantas made the kick off in the second half. After 56 minutes, Jarbas Leme mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Teixeiro and the Varela United players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 57th minute, Jarbas Leme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 58 minutes into the game, Ivo Caeiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Varela United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Teixeiro the free kick. A collision led to Varela United getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Ivo Caeiro hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Varela United's zone, Belchior Macena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. After some careless play in the Teixeiro defense, António Dantas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Raul Ruas. The Teixeiro fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Raul Ruas should have stopped the shot. Raul Ruas came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Varela United's António Dantas. But to his dismay, António Dantas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. António Dantas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raul Ruas having to interfere. António Dantas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Raul Ruas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, Teixeiro's goal looked a bit too open when António Dantas came free, but Raul Ruas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rúben Sanches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Belchior Macena in the 82nd minute of play. Teixeiro's Raul Ruas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by António Dantas in the 86th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Teixeiro's goal looked a bit too open when António Dantas came free, but Raul Ruas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vasco Ferrão made a great header on Varela United's corner, it was just that Teixeiro's Raul Ruas managed to reach the ball for a save. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Varela United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Teixeiro had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
