Alberto Trindade blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Donato Aragão having to make a save.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ricardo Viana made a kick off. In the 52nd minute of the match Marco Trindade shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Donato Aragão showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Bento Gomes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amadeu Valverde in the 59th minute of play. 62 minutes into the game, Real Ilhavo's Ricardo Viana nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Donato Aragão made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. In the 65th minute Laércio Tomé shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bento Gomes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Real Ilhavo's Bento Gomes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amadeu Valverde in the 70th minute of play. Donato Aragão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Trindade in the 80th minute. After 81 played minutes Real Ilhavo got a freekick which was hit by António Faria. Laércio Tomé scored 2-5 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bento Gomes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 89 minutes into the match, Pedro Ribeiro dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Donato Aragão, 2-6. Pedro Ribeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donato Aragão having to interfere. Real Ilhavo played a much better game than Mafra and deserved their victory. The Mafra players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
