To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 7 minutes into the match, Abadessa's goalkeeper Claudemiro Osório had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gaspar Porto. Henrique Durães charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Henrique Durães the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Palhais booed when Abadessa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henrique Durães didn't get a good kick on the ball. Claudemiro Osório showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Joaquim Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudemiro Osório having to interfere. Noel Pedroso ran back to his position shaking his head. Rui Ferreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Noel Pedroso, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. 41 minutes into the game, Palhais's Gaspar Porto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Claudemiro Osório made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joaquim Nascimento made a kick off. Abadessa's Claudemiro Osório played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Vale in the 53rd minute of play. Gaspar Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudemiro Osório having to interfere. Henrique Durães kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Palhais's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
