Setada's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Veríssimo Macedo in the 11th minute. The corner led Setada's Sidónio Amaral to fire away a dangerous shot which Floris Vanneste despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of Setada booed when F.C.Porto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. António Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Xavier Faria's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sebastião Valente was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. In the 26th minute, Albérico Belém ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Floris Vanneste was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After the first half Setada were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Floris Vanneste made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Januário Baião sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Setada booed when F.C.Porto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. António Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Xavier Faria ran back to his position shaking his head. Paulo Alves kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Floris Vanneste made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albérico Belém in the 90th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xavier Faria in the 93rd minute of play forced Setada's goalkeeper Sebastião Valente to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The F.C.Porto manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Setada to win.
