The shot was a little too simple and Afonso Santarém could save by the left post. The supporters of SC Azinhega booed when Areal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armindo Leão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Areal FC's Mariano Porto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Guarda in the 15th minute of play. SC Azinhega's Afonso Santarém played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Gomes in the 16th minute of play. Mariano Porto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 41 minutes into the match, Areal FC's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Guarda came free, but Mariano Porto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Afonso Valente kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Manuel Guarda was the one to do the kick off. Afonso Valente's late challenge caught a SC Azinhega's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Afonso Valente helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Guarda in the 53rd minute of play forced Areal FC's goalkeeper Mariano Porto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Artur Torres fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Azinhega's protests and gave Artur Torres a yellow card for diving instead. When Paulo Dantas was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 55 minutes had been played. After 57 played minutes, Areal FC's Sandro Resende shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Afonso Santarém came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Areal FC reached it. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Artur Torres put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Mariano Porto. 64 minutes into the game, Bento Fernandes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Afonso Santarém was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonso Valente in the 71st minute of play forced SC Azinhega's goalkeeper Afonso Santarém to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Artur Torres came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the SC Azinhega fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Artur Torres couldn't finish the play. Mariano Porto made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Artur Torres sent off a good shot on target. Artur Torres's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mariano Porto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. Afonso Santarém took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manuel Gomes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Afonso Santarém stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manuel Gomes's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. Artur Torres could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Mariano Porto made a huge save. Afonso Santarém took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bento Fernandes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
