In the 8th minute Manuel Assunção shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filinto Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manuel Assunção received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Filinto Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 12 minutes in the game, Manuel Assunção fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Filinto Azevedo having to interfere. After a rather tough play, new fire benfica's Hugo Aveiro got a free kick in the 13th minute. If Luís Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th match minute, new fire benfica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Aveiro to maneuver through the defense. 18 minutes into the game, Vicente Brás was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Suzao FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave new fire benfica the free kick. Leandro Anjos charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Raul Teixeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dimas Valido in the 38th minute of the match. If Manuel Assunção had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emanuel Marques to make the kick off. Filinto Azevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manuel Assunção, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manuel Assunção in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal.
