Hélder Reis made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Álvaro Paredes sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Sousa hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Álvaro Paredes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 6thth minute tested the skills of Hélder Reis when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 9th match minute, Barbito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Álvaro Paredes to maneuver through the defense. 13 minutes into the match, Braga FC's goal looked a bit too open when Diamantino Melo came free, but Hélder Reis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Barbito's goalkeeper Paulo Jesus, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Álvaro Paredes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Barbito booed when Braga FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th match minute, Braga FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorge Aguiar to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 22 minutes, Álvaro Paredes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barbito's supporters crossed their fingers, but Álvaro Paredes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Diamantino Melo struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Hélder Reis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barbito. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Eusébio Veiga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Braga FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Eusébio Veiga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulo Jesus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpected shot in the 33rd minute by Diamantino Melo got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Hélder Reis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diamantino Melo, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. The audience was convinced that Diamantino Melo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hélder Reis was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Diamantino Melo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Hélder Reis came out and tried to block the shot, but Diamantino Melo slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 40th minute. Álvaro Paredes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Hélder Reis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Diamantino Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gabriel Faro kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Diamantino Melo made a kick off. Ricardo Pinho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paulo Jesus having to make a save. After having played for 59 minutes, Diamantino Melo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barbito's supporters crossed their fingers, but Diamantino Melo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. João Costa, 63 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diamantino Melo in the 65th minute of play forced Braga FC's goalkeeper Hélder Reis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hélder Reis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diamantino Melo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. António Cunha was extremely unlucky when he, in the 73rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. A hard shot by Jorge Aguiar from long distance, 84 minutes into the match, got Paulo Jesus's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Diamantino Melo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Barbito's Paulo Jesus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by António Cunha in the 89th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Braga FC's Eusébio Veiga got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Ricardo Pinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 100th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Barbito's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
