The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Américo Candeias got free with Sebastião Assunção in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mário Valido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Sebastião Assunção tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Américo Candeias who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 19thth minute tested the skills of Sebastião Assunção when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 24th minute João Trindade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frederico Santarém saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Américo Candeias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastião Assunção having to interfere. 44 minutes into the match, SC Simoes's goalkeeper Sebastião Assunção had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Américo Candeias. In the 57th minute, Albertino Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mário Valido kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. João Trindade could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Frederico Santarém made a huge save. Américo Candeias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. After a rather tough play, SC Simoes's Armindo Araújo got a free kick in the 62nd minute. In the 65thth minute of the game Mário Valido who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Simoes's Sebastião Assunção was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Américo Candeias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Américo Candeias came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Almagre FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Américo Candeias couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the SC Simoes defense, Mário Valido kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sebastião Assunção. The SC Simoes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sebastião Assunção should have stopped the shot. João Trindade struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Frederico Santarém didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Simoes.
