When Belchior Águas came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the FC Porto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Belchior Águas couldn't finish the play. FC Porto's Antero Salgado got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. SC Goaes's Alexandre Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Belchior Águas in the 42nd minute of play. The referee gave Basílio Rocha a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of FC Porto booed when SC Goaes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basílio Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball.
