Hélder Varanda made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The audience was convinced that Armindo Quintela's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joel Pires was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Nuno Portela hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Formal FC's Alfredo Resende tried to score from far away in the 35th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 38 minutes into the match, Diogo Maia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hélder Varanda. PALMEIRA DE FARO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Diogo Maia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Hélder Varanda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Heitor Veiga in the 43rd minute of the match. Heitor Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Diogo Maia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Formal FC's Diogo Maia ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Hélder Varanda. Hélder Varanda yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Joel Pires took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgar Souto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 83rd match minute, Formal FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Dias to maneuver through the defense.
