Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Meixedo's Viriato Correia started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Anselmo Lages during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 6 played minutes SC Matela got a freekick which was hit by Anselmo Lages. Viriato Correia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Armando Mota's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlos Carvalhais read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. In the 16th minute, SC Matela's Rui Moutinho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. After 20 minutes, Domingos Nunes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Meixedo and the SC Matela players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 20 played minutes Meixedo got a freekick which was hit by Domingos Nunes. When Domingos Nunes was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 21 minutes had been played. In the 22nd match minute, Meixedo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Domingos Nunes to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th match minute, SC Matela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anselmo Lages to maneuver through the defense. Ricardo Branco took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 29th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Carlos Carvalhais. SC Matela's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Moisés Alvarenga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 2-0 became the score in the 37th minute when Rui Moutinho elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Viriato Correia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Carlos Carvalhais tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, Armando Mota had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlos Carvalhais. SC Matela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Armando Mota was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rui Moutinho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Rui Moutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute Rui Moutinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oliveira Morais saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Moisés Alvarenga in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Oliveira Morais prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, SC Matela's Carlos Carvalhais got control of the ball when Armando Mota tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Meixedo's goalkeeper Oliveira Morais, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 79th minute, Moisés Alvarenga made a precise shot to the right of Oliveira Morais. Meixedo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. If Moisés Alvarenga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Bernardo Leal fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Meixedo's protests and gave Bernardo Leal a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Meixedo getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Bernardo Leal hit a great ball. With a little luck, SC Matela's Carlos Carvalhais got control of the ball when Armando Mota tried to sneak it across the goal line. Meixedo's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
